On April 14th, YMR partnered with Laney College and the Chinatown Youth Center Initiative (CYCI) to bring an all-inclusive futures planning conference to over 500 local high school and college-aged youth.
The Expo included resume-writing workshops, a career planning clinic, a keynote address from human rights activist and emcee Kiwi Illafonte, and over 50 vendors from local and corporate employers and community-based organizations.
In addition to event planning expertise, YMR youth, LeRon “Ron G” Blankenship, Ben “WatzReal” White, and Princeton Maharam provided lunchtime entertainment to Futures Expo attendees. Our partnership with Laney College and the CYCI has proven valuable and will continue on in order to provide youth-relevant activities and resources in the future.
